Autumn. We LOVE Autumn. It gives us chances to make lots of warming, wholesome food and try out new soups and stews for all.
We’ve done a few soups recently, a favourite of ours was the Cauliflower and Vintage cheddar. I remember finding the recipe for this in a Sunday magazine about 10 years ago on the morning that we were due to go around to friends for a boozy Sunday lunch and I was supposed to bringing over the starter. It’s so quick, so easy and so bloody tasty. We’re suckers for cheese anyway and so soup with cheese involved is always a winner with customers too which is why our Pea, pesto and feta soup is probably one of our best sellers.
It’s been hard at times trying to get hot food on our menu – but finally we are getting there. A new favourite is our Smokey slow cooked beef chilli – we love chilli anyway and love experimenting and we reckon we’re at perfection….Ours is cooked with chorizo as well as beef, a bottle of stout, coriander seeds, chilli and we also throw in some chocolate in at the end which gives it a real gloss.
In other breakfasty non Autumn related news, we have a new offering on our breakfast menu – a healthier, veggie option with homemade hummus, fresh tomatoes, gherkins, carrot and mint salad, jalapenos, falafel, fried eggs and toasted pitta. It’s the kind of breakfast I love, you get to eat lovely fried eggs and still feel healthy. Our customers seem to be loving it too.
Anyway, it’s not even 8am and I’m blogging about food with an empty stomach so I’m off now to eat breakfast. We’re open from 10am through to 4.30pm on Sundays so come over and treat yourself to breakfast or lunch today.
Happy Sunday whatever you do!
